What we learn in each class — Online Program in Chabad Philosophy & Torah Study
A healthy soul in a healthy body. At least one hour of physical activity every day, before davening — each student picks what works where he lives: soccer or running outside, bicycle, self-defense classes, or weightlifting at home with guided assistance.
The program provides guidance and structure — training plans, safety basics, and encouragement — so this hour is as real a part of the day as any seder.
Text: Hayom Yom, and foundational concepts of Chassidus (the soul, bittul, simcha, hashgacha pratis, the purpose of creation).
A short daily learning to set the tone of the day — one entry of Hayom Yom plus one core concept, built up over the year into a complete map of Chabad thought. Fridays: Likkutei Torah / Torah Or on the weekly Parsha.
| Tishrei–Kislev | The soul and its powers; Elul–Tishrei avodah; Yud-Tes Kislev and the story of Chassidus |
|---|---|
| Teves–Adar | Hashgacha pratis, simcha, ahavas Yisroel; Yud Shvat and the Rebbe's leadership |
| Nissan–Sivan | Freedom of the soul; counting the Omer as refinement of middos; Matan Torah |
| Tammuz–Elul | Geulah and Moshiach; the avodah of teshuva; preparing for a new year |
Text: Maseches Bava Metzia, chapters 1–2 (Shnayim Ochazin & Elu Metzios).
The main learning seder. In-depth study with Rashi and selected Tosafos and Rishonim; the AI teacher walks each student through the sugya at his own pace, from guided reading with translation up to learning inside. Emphasis on how a sugya is built: the mishnah, the Gemara's questions, and the halachic outcome.
| Semester 1 | Perek Shnayim Ochazin — claims, possession, oaths |
|---|---|
| Semester 2 | Perek Elu Metzios — lost objects, returning property, honest dealing |
Text: Maseches Brachos.
A faster-paced seder for fluency and breadth — reading the daf with Rashi, covering ground rather than depth. Goal for the year: complete the masechta and gain confidence reading a page of Gemara independently.
Text: The weekly Parsha with Rashi, following the Chitas cycle (the daily portion each day).
Daily: the day's aliyah with key Rashis, asking Rashi's classic question — "what is bothering Rashi?" Friday: the whole Parsha reviewed in depth with a Chassidic insight from the Rebbe's Likkutei Sichos. Over the year, students complete the entire Torah.
Text: Shulchan Aruch HaRav / Kitzur Shulchan Aruch, taught practically.
Halacha for daily life — what to do and why, with the Alter Rebbe's reasoning. Fridays are always Hilchos Shabbos.
| Tishrei–Kislev | Waking, tzitzis, tefillin, davening; Chanukah |
|---|---|
| Teves–Adar | Brachos on food and enjoyment; Purim |
| Nissan–Sivan | Pesach and its preparations; Sefiras HaOmer; Shavuos |
| Tammuz–Elul | The Three Weeks; laws of honest speech and business; Elul and Rosh Hashanah |
Texts: Derech Mitzvosecha (Tzemach Tzedek) as the running text, plus the maamar of the season.
The evening depth class. Derech Mitzvosecha opens the door into real maamarim — the inner meaning of the mitzvos — with each student advancing at his own pace. Around key dates we learn the classic maamar of the day.
| Rosh Hashanah | The coronation of the King — selections from the Rebbeim |
|---|---|
| Yud-Tes Kislev | Padah B'Shalom |
| Yud Shvat | Basi LeGani |
| Purim | V'Kibel HaYehudim |
| Pesach | Matzah zu |
| Shavuos | Anochi Hashem Elokecha |
Text: Likkutei Amarim — Tanya, learned inside, slowly, with the classic commentaries and the Rebbe's explanations.
The spine of the whole program: the Alter Rebbe's map of the two souls, the beinoni, and the service of the heart. About 1–2 chapters per week, so every concept lands before moving on.
| Tishrei | Iggeres HaTeshuva — teshuva for the days of awe |
|---|---|
| Cheshvan–Adar | Likkutei Amarim ch. 1–17: the two souls and the beinoni |
| Nissan–Tammuz | Ch. 18–34: hidden love, joy, and overcoming sadness |
| Av–Elul | Ch. 35–53: why the physical mitzvah matters; the Shechina in this world |
